[Blunderov] Intelligence is not necessarily a great survival advantage. (Isn't hindsight wonderful?) "Intelligence" builds nuclear weapons. It builds social organisations that converts millions into miserable slaves. It produces global warming. In fact, intelligence seems to be doing more harm than good. Seemingly, we either need a lot more intelligence around or a lot less.

agreed, very possible. Although, I suspect it will take less than 500 years.
I just hope the (tech) singularity happens before all the smart folk become extinct. *shudders*
