I know it probably seems nit picky, but especially since it has become a common texting/internet acronym, "IMHO", it has almost turned into a pet peeve of mine; can opinions ever really be "humble"? I mean the very act of forming an opinion assumes that you know something, and you know it well enough to come to a conclusion. And then add on top of that, you feel compelled to share it with others, probably under the assumption that other people should care what that conclusion is. Finally, in my experience most of the pronouncements which folk attach the "IMHO" to are usually anything but humble, and frequently downright prescriptive and judgmental -- "The Way Things Ought To Be" to borrow the title of one of Rush Limbaugh's books.

While IMHO can certainly be used disingenuously it isn't necessarily so. An opinion is humble when it is offered along with an implicit invitation for correction if mistaken.
