Our government works the way it was made to work <snip>Remember the United States was founded on freedom. Who founded this country?

As I recall, the earlier suggestions (with which I am in agreement) were that the present governance of the United States was precisely not in accordance with the principles established by its founding fathers. An obvious topical example would be (as is implicit in the title) an oath of alligiance amended during the cold war to distance the US from the godless Soviet Union, despite the clear view of the founders that the US was not in any way founded on the christian religion. The same applies to the presence of god lurking about on the currency. Overall, my recommendation would be to read this post before you even consider adding anything more to this subject:

Refugees from the oppressive British Empire at the time.

Tax dodgers would be an equally valid description; particularly given that the independence of the United States on the basis of no taxation without representation has hardly been adhered to:

A group demanding voting rights for Washington DC is to mark America's Independence Day by asking Queen Elizabeth to place the US capital under British rule.

Rotten boroughs, anyone?
